Looting and destruction affected countless businesses and livelihoods in Gauteng and KZN in July 2021. We were determined to help, and wanted to enable others to do so too.

Kandua has over 25 000 vetted home service pros on our platform — everything from carpenters to builders to electricians — who are themselves independent operators or small businesses, and possess all the skills that are needed to rebuild damaged premises.

We started #RebuildSA with Kandua where small businesses can apply for support while donors can contribute to the cause. Kandua will select and match the small businesses with relevant service providers. Donor funds will be used to pay service providers fair market rates to conduct repairs for the small businesses that have been selected.

So far, the initiative has raised over R150 000 and two beneficiaries have been selected: a creche in Durban and the Perinatal HIV Research Unit in Kliptown, Soweto.
